South Bucks Jewish Community (“SBJC” or “Community”) gathers and processes Personal Information. This policy and notice informs you of the reasons for which this Personal Information is processed and about your rights.
What is “Personal Information”?
Personal Information in this document means information about you personally, such as your name, address, e-mail address. If you are a member of SBJC, a Friend, or are applying to join, some or all of the information below may apply to you. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
Purposes
SBJC gathers and processes your Personal Information in order to administer the Community. For example, your Personal Information is processed in order that the Community can keep you informed of events, coordinate events, and for possible pastoral reasons, or in case of emergency.
Data Security
Your Personal Information may be shared among members of the Community Council or other Committees so that we can run things effectively. Members’ details are not circulated to other Members except in limited circumstances, for example connected with the organisation of events (such as our “Mitzvot Rota”) when e-mail addresses, for example, are shared in order to coordinate services. We will always ask your permission before disclosing your Personal Information further.
Third Parties
SBJC may share your Personal Information with third parties, but this will be done only for the purpose of administration (such as collection of subscriptions by Direct Debit). In such cases we will keep you informed of which Third Parties are involved. SBJC does not sell membership lists to Third Parties, and your details are not used for commercial purposes.
Sensitive Information, and Minors
It is helpful to the Community to be aware of certain more sensitive information, such as a Member’s state of health, so that we can offer support in certain circumstances. However Members are not required to disclose this sort of information if they prefer not to. Personal Information of people under 16 is only processed with the consent of parents or guardians.
Burial Scheme
Certain other information may be required if you wish to join the Community’s Burial Scheme. This will be explained separately should you wish to join.
Your Rights
In gathering your Personal Information, SBJC will only gather data which is relevant to the Purpose above and we will attempt to keep it up-to-date and accurate. We acknowledge that you have Rights over your Personal Information. You may ask at any time to see the data we hold, correct it if incorrect, or exercise other rights. If you have any questions or would like to make a request please contact [email protected]
