Rabbi Neil Janes joined us in November 2020, having worked as a progressive congregational rabbi for 14 years along with being the executive director of an organisation for adult Jewish education. Prior to the rabbinate, Neil was a graduate of RSY-Netzer and worked as a youth worker and Jewish educator.
Neil was ordained by the Leo Baeck College in 2006, and holds degrees in Psychology & Education and Hebrew & Jewish Studies. He has studied at Cardiff University, Haifa University and the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem.
Currently, Neil is researching for a PhD at King’s College London. He is studying rabbinic literature and its representations of identity and culture. Neil is a lecturer at the Leo Baeck College teaching Talmud and Midrash and was formerly adjunct faculty of Hebrew College, Boston.
When not working, you can find him in the garden, behind a camera photographing nature, playing the guitar (not all at the same time) and spending time with his wife, Michelle, and their two children.
Neil would be delighted to meet and support you and is available for all your lifecycle events, personal learning and spiritual guidance.
